Yes. +1 You can try different ones on in chemists and supermarkets and read the text next to each number.

phone up, and ask them to explain it - they shouldn't have left you confused about whether you're wanting reading glasses or varifocals - that doesn't reflect too well on them.....hopefully a further conversation should get ride of any confusion

Reading glasses are to correct near vision. If you are short sighted , you get a prescription with a negative - number to correct distance vision.

I get my distance glasses from Specsavers, but my reading glasses from anywhere that sells them. Bought a pair in Aldi last week (3.0) for under three quid.

I apparently have one eye shortsighted and the other longsighted. Equates to having monocular vision most of the time. Rather explains why I was never any good at ball games.

me too - and ditto no good at ball games - never realised that the two might be linked! doh

Wife had a full refund on her new 3 pairs today..
prescription was wrong ,fitting was wrong lenses were incorectely centred..

Turns out her eyes were exactly the same as they were 2 years ago..she has thyroid eye disease and her eye pressures are 26..so you would think they would get the prescription right with a complex scrip..

too quick to sell bloody specs would be my guess

It was a comment by the optician a few years ago that made me realise. I'd probably have played better in glasses.

I forgot to mention, the optician thinks your eyes are too close together and doesn't trust you, the 90 in axis.
