having read this for the third time i've finally understood.

"they used to be speed banks,

now its more like 'f'k you i'm using it so i'll take as long as i want banks'

if anyone turns round and says to me (once more) "sorry, i'm just seeing whats in my savings" i'll personally shove the card up their 'hole in the wall' instead"

basically, you've gotten used to not having to queue in the bank, making it quicker to get your financial information and money, this has not slowed down.

you have got used to an instant world with meals that take 5 mins and sometimes much much less, and so have lost the patience that comes with being at one with the force as your father was

beware this is the road to the caged side young padiwan

The ones that irritate me are those that finish what they are doing and remove the card only to produce a second card and start all over again using that one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But they are doing nothing wrong. There's no ban on multiple transactions.

I went to the cashline at the Clydsdale Bank in Airdrie one Friday afternoon. The queue was massive so I walked around to the front of the bank and there was nobody in it! So I walked up to a teller and got my cash then smugly walked past all the muppets still queueing outside :0)

I was only musing on the way across town today, about the blight of impatience in our modern world. Thank you yenrod, for illustrating it so perfectly.

Totally agree. Seems the more you give people the more they want. It wasn't that long ago that you could only use the bank during working hours on work days. Now people complain if it takes them more than five minutes to get cash at three in the morning!

Yes. In Oz banks were open 9am-3pm mon-fri and 9-12 Sat. Wages were made up into packets of cash. Paymasters would make up two packets, one to be given to the wife unopened, the other given to the employee to do as he wished, dogs, fags, booze.
