I've done it :sad:
Convinced a mate to take up cycling and he's meant to be coming round here in an hour so we can go out bike shopping (think he's still a bit p*ssed from last night) :tongue::biggrin:

So, what do you think I should recommend? Nice SS / Fixie that he won't be able to go up hills on.... heavy assed MTB from Halfords, female specific city bike? The potential to stitch him up is endless...

Not sure of his budget - think maybe about £400... will be off to the LBS / Evans in a bit. In all seriousness he will probably go for a hybrid. I suppose a Spesh Sirrus or Kona Dew might do the job. Budget choice, a Carerra Subway 1 maybe.... hmmm, I loves spending other folks' cash :smile:

I was chatting to a bloke with a nice Giant last night, light frame, flat bars and skinny wheels. I'll try and find it and post a link.

:biggrin:

Anyway, yes... Giant's seem to be often overlooked, I think. Less likely to see them in shops, I suppose. I like the look of Giant bikes a lot but have heard the geometry is a bit weird compared to other marques :tongue:

My geometry is a bit wierd compared to other blokes Ant - get him a Boardman Comp etc - read Grumpy Greg's review of the top of the range one in MTB or Antonia's (blimey - forgotten her 'name' er...) one about the racer.

Spend spendspend m'boy - you know it makes sense...just look after him, see him through the worst...:sad:

HelloTeef :tongue:

Yeah the BM Comp is one of the ones I was considering but I doubt he could stretch to 650. Think he wants a hybrid too but I might try and persuade him to spend a little more and go for drops!

Job done... mate now has in his possesion: 1 Specialized Allez Sport 2010 model :blush:
Very nice it is too! The LBS had plenty of bikes and sizes all there and setup ready to ride. He took it our for a spin round the block and said it was really nice to ride. Just in the interests of some type of affordable option he also took a Sirrus for a test ride but said it just wasn't so nice to ride. We were walking out of the shop and my mate was 700 quid poorer about 45 mins after we walked in (he bought a helmet & lock too).

Misson Complete :rolleyes::biggrin:
