Had a bit of trouble with the propellers but think I managed to salvage them. What do you think? It's for my brothers birthday tomorrow (well, today, after I've gone to sleep)

...very nice, a budding artist I reckon. Reminds me of the Airfix models I used to make as kid - Spifire, Hurricane etc all dangling from the bedroom ceiling from cotton strings. Then, when I got my first air gun, shot them all to smithereens.................as you do......
My brother once bought me a fireman Smurf that had a hose that worked. I didn't realise my dolls house was made of compressed cardboard when I pretended it was on fire  my mum wasn't happy.

Nice painting and I wouldn't mess around with it any more; nobody will notice the lack of authenticity. The good thing is that it's clear that a lot of effort and patience has gone into it. You have a pleasingly simple, naive style that reminds me somehow of Beryl Cook, who flourished in the 80s or Alex Colville the Canadian artist. Best of all you capture the sweeping graceful lines of the Spitfire perfectly.
I had loads hanging from the ceiling. Then one day I got hold of a cigarette lighter and realised how nicely they burned. One by one the planes crash-landed from my 2nd floor bedroom window, noses aflame....
Not the only one.........................Loved doing that too... used to drive my pops mad as he used to spend hours helping and subsequently taking over making them.
