Shut Up Legs

I'm about to start a wheel building project, and noticed that when I insert a spoke nipple into one of the rim spoke holes, that there's a fair bit of space in there. Should I try to fill this space up, or just ensure that I use good quality cloth rim tape?

Make sure that the spoke length has been correctly measured and doesn't protrude too far out of the nipple and then use a good quality rim tape.

If you are using an adhesive rim tape make sure you pull it taught all the way around so that it doesn't sag into the hole.

When you tighten the spoke, the nipple will not move around in the hole. Always use good quality rim tape.
