Spoke replacement problem

Are mavic cxp 22 spoke nipples different standard to normal ? Had a spoke go last night and tyring to put a new one in , shimano r501 that happens to be right length and it will not thread into the mavic nipple that is in the rim .Is it the nipple farked or a different standard ? as i know it threads into the shimano nipple

Mavic CXP 22 is the identity of the rim. We can't know what spokes you have lacing it to the hub (or the make/type of nipple). The Shimano R501 wheel will be spoked with 2mm at the thread (either straight or double butted). If that spoke won't 'go into' the nipple you've got in your Mavic hubbed wheel it's possible that the nipples in that wheel are for 15 gauge (for 1.8mm at the threading).

Take note that a 2mm nipple will screw into a 1.8mm spoke and tension a little. Then...BANG, it strips.

Measure twice, screw once.
