If you look at their FB page you'll see that one of their members fell off a station platform and died after one of their recent marches.

In which case I shall show due respect and mourn appropriately.

The EDL ,the only group that i can think of who take a certain pride in football hooligans being part of the organisation, the EDL tell us time and again casuals are part of the central make up of the group.
Other groups would be embarrassed, or try to cover up and hide this fact, football hooligans are not welcomed or like by the the british public.
English clubs were banned for years from europe because of these same types of people.

And a year down the line from forming, the EDL have achieved exactly zero, their numbers are still tiny on street protests, no point in saying you have 70 000 supporters on facebook, since facebook is a worldwide website, 50 000 of those could be from america for all anyone knows.
It's rather pathetic to see aged 40+ football hooligans chasing the "glory" days of the past, before retirement sets in, and slippers by the fire.

At least the most notorious football hooligans from the 1980s Chelsea/west ham seemed to have avoided the EDL.
The facts and figures speak for themselves, the edl can't get many people out on demonstrations in the first place, even with a visit to the pub as a bonus before the demo

The world has moved on and left the BNP/NF/and EDL out in the wilderness, stuck in 1946 ,or whatever year you can claim to be native british [nonsense].

And if no one else has noticed these BNP and EDL folk spam boards, make a single post and leave, the idea being free publicity, and the illusion that their support is far greater than it actually is.

To me they attract a certain type, those who have problems in their own life but believe others are the cause of those problems, and not they themselves, poor education, bad upbringing and so on.It's always the fault of the immigrants or foreigners.

Always makes me laugh when they talk about native british, or ethnic british.. we're an island of mongrels in many ways, due to the times these lands have been invaded and settled upon over the past 5000 years. Celtic, Roman, Saxon, Angle, Viking, Jewish, Norman, Planteagenate (sp?), French, more recently Indian, Irish, African, German, French, Middle Eastern, Eastern Europe (dont see the EDL complaining about the hot Polish girls we have walking around Southampton, LMAO)

Long may it continue, Britain's strengths seem to come from attracting hard working people from other countries.

I've been called a lot of things in my time, but now, apparently, I'm a 'Muslamic'.
That interview made me chuckle!

'Muslamic' to me sounds like type of revolutionary Victorian sanitary porcelain. The sort of thing that was advertised in lots of different fonts with glowing references from customers about how it made life easy for the maid-of-all-work.

To be fair the loony right do not have a monopoly on such blinkered thinking, the loony left are just as bad only they blame the bankers/capitalists or the establishment elite for their problems.

It does, doesn't it?

Or maybe a tincture claiming to be a cure for all known ailments.

Purveyors of the finest 'Muslamic'...

Oh yes. Doctor Pearson's Muslamic Powders: guaranteed to prevent ruptures, cure lethargy and induce regularity. Apply for testimonials. 6d and shilling sizes.

This sort of publicity is great, but I wouldn't take the piss out of him for being drunk; he deserves the piss taken out of him for failing to decipher anything going on in the world around him, like a fair few others who quietly support these peanuts, whether they be outright boneheads of the NF/BNP ilk or the Daily Mail readership who tone down their racism/anti-Islamism with a cloak of respectability.

I'm glad to agree that it seems that the EDL are going nowhere fast but the potential is there; I happen to believe that when the traditional right is weak, or considered weak, the vacuum left is often filled with the opportunism of the far-right, picking on easy targets and tapping into racism on the emotional level in which it generally works. For this reason, this kind of extremism is still a worry, aside the aptitude of this particular ape.

Growing up in rural Somerset I can honestly say that things were bad with racism when I was growing up but got considerably better (my brother-in-law,, adopted brother and niece are all mixed race/West Indian). In the last five years it has become noticeably worse and whereas if I kept my mouth shut walking past a demo with this lot, I'd be alright, would a muslim or a sikh, a hindu? Would these idiots know the difference? Doubt it somehow. With another war on the go and a ridiculous wedding to further stir some patriotic fervour, there are some dark times ahead I think.

They don't know the difference between a muslim, sikh, asian, african. They have proved this quite a few times in the early protests where riots erupted on the streets and any one not white was afraid for their safety, birmingham demo being one example.
They also don't know the difference between those who are there to support them, and those who aren't, they've had battles with football casuals who were there to support them [the EDL].

They also pulled a laughable insurance claim against a coach company.
Their counting skills, basic arithmetic, is extremely poor, or they are con men and women.
The story is on Indymedia
"EDL can't count and therefore exposed as frauds"
