I am looking to purchase a sportive bike in the very near future and am open to any number of brands. My budget is £2000, maybe a tad more for the right deal. I would like ultegra components. Bikes I have considered so far are Cannondale Synapse, Trek Madone, Cube Agree etc. Any suggestions from experience would be appreciated.

FWIW I'd go for the Synapse but that's just because I like C'dale's, I own a C'dale and I don't like Cubes or modern Trek bikes.

So hardly scientific TBH

More importantly you need to get a ride on all the bikes you like, and the one that fits you best and suits your needs the most should be the one you buy, (unless it's the Trek!).

Only joking, whatever the outcome that should be your main criteria for buying a bike IMO.

In many respects, other people's experiences of the bikes don't count for much, because they are not you. £2k is a lot to spend on a bike you haven't ridden - so try them and then the choice should become clearer..

I am a little biased towards the Synapse, I'm aware of Cannondales quality as I have a CAAD 5 which I love. Other bikes I'm exploring are: Fuji Gran Fondo, Merckx EMX1, Orbea Onix, Lapiere Sensum, Canyon SLX, Colnago Ace
