Why isn't there the same effort employed taking the things down afterwards as there is in putting them up? There are some road signs around here that look like Christmas has, indeed, come early.

The nobbers who organized the local 10k here didn't use signs.

They spray painted the farking road, every 1k with a big white line and distance marker. There's the odd doodle too. The road had only just been resurfaced too, so it's here for a while.

It pisses me off because I always start at the 2k marker, follow it to 6k. I then go out riding sometimes all day and return following the 8k marker. I don't feel like I've been anywhere!

Because they have the money from the saps to ride the highway. Afterwards is irrelevant.

There's still a sign on Goldington Road in Bedford from when the Women's tour (it's for the HQ hotel, not for the actual race itself!) went through there in May, so it's not just sportives...

There's still loads of signs up in Yorkshire from some bike race that went through there not so long back.....

Really? I would have thought there wouldn't be a single one left anywhere.

We've just had our charity sportive today, and we had all the signs down within an hour of the last rider finishing. Should be an integral part of the event plan.
