Sorry, but having been there at Brands Hatch and personally seeing her win her 11th gold medal, OVERTAKING THE MENS RACE IN THE PROCESS, I feel passionate about it along with the Games Maker idea!

Sorry, I got all excited there.

Problem with Sarah Storey is that she is a world-class cyclist. It is fair to say that in her strongest events she is clearly in the top 10 across the globe. It is only as a Paralympian she is head, shoulders and much of her torso above her rivals. So is she an extremely good cyclist who can enter the Paralympics, or a legendary Paralympian who would have blown the cycling world apart if it wasn't for her disability?

I don't understand Mo Farah - sure he won, and he definitely has a personality, but those brothers who did the triathlon doing the 10k about 90 seconds slower than Farah, who hadn't just swam and cycled - that's more of an acheivment in my eyes.

Oh aye i forgot about them they're fantastic and much more worthy than Farah IMO

Forgot about them, that worthy eh? They're the Brownlee Brothers by the way, since neither of you seemed to know. But yes, brilliant athletes that have already been recognised, maybe if they were on BBC SPOTY people would get to know their name, so that'd be a result I suppose.

I heard somewhere that she might be trying to compete with the able bodies athletes next time. She'll be 38 then though, so I don't know.

Typical of a politician's big idea, it's hard to decide whether it's funny or stupid.

On reflection, both.

Just becuase you want to see Wiggo win? I think it's rather cute, a great gesture of good will and true recognition of the ordinary men and woman who helped make it all happen...... Although, then Wiggo wouldn't get it to.... Umm...... Err.......

At the very least, the games makers should get a special honoury one on behalf of them all!

'From those of you were in the stadium, to those of you who were in a stairwell for 2 weeks, this is for you!' And all that.

That's what's wrong with it.

It shouldn't be about "cute", but sporting excellence.

Unfortunately, more often than not, SPOTY is given to the most popular person, so you could cycle to the moon (Yes, I know), but if the public don't get behind you then....
Some years, is it really about sporting excellence or is it just a popularity contest?

Certainly a special honoury prize should be given to them anyway.

I think the Top 3 will be Wiggins, Murray and Farah.

In which order though? Haven't a clue.

But look at the people I haven't included!! It's been a truly exceptional year for British sport and for once SPOTY will be worth watching. I really hope the BBC make it a special show, different to usual, to reflect the fact that this has been a unique year that we're unlikely to see repeated in our lifetimes.

I'll start saving up for Rio, although, before then we will have the Glasgow Commonwealth Games (which I won't need to save for) and Sochi in the south of Russia* for the Winter Olympics!

* - Near the Georgia border, so I hope things don't kick off there again!

The organisers have very cleverly put a number of cyclists in as nominees, this way the cycling vote will be spread and none of them will win,

The Irish lad swinging the golf bat will get it proving that the populace at large has already forgotten the games.

Hope he gets a haircut before the big night, he looks a right bloody urchin.

Barnet,
Wiggins will get my vote. I think he was ambushed by a journo. when asked about helmets. But, he has personality, a proven track record in winning medals and world records and of course the icing on the cake, the TDF.
