Meant to be the sportsperson who 'captured the imagination of the British public' isn't it? So I can't see past Farah. I'm kind of like Colin though. I don't think it's very important in the grand scheme of things.

Good to see there are one or two on here supporting the ladies though. Sarah Storey is a great nomination, a very nice lady too.

I'm only going for her as I saw her personally at Brands Hatch and after getting (one of) her Gold medals, she then walked back along the course and said hello to everyone and signed tickets etc.

.... I still expect Wiggo to win though.

Not convinced golf is a sport, or darts, snooker and especially not anything that relies on a mechanical engine.

Its the level of skill which makes them more than mere activities though.

So, who should be in the nominations for the best team then??

No doubt Man City will be there, but I was wondering if the Equestrian Guys who won the first British Olympic Gold in their event in 60 years or whatever it was will be in the running?

I still maintain a special award for the Games Makers etc would be nice to see by the way!

We once had a Village People tribute act but we had to throw out a young lad called Mo Farrah as quite frankly, he was rubbish doing that 'M' thing. Does anyone know what became of him?

Which one was that?? (my last 'fell' was Withins)
Er - some years ago. It was the Burnsall Fell Race, which has been going for nearly 150 years. There is also a 10 mile road race and like a muppet I believed my new club friends when they said that it was traditional to do both.
It's another of these hideous lung-bursters. I do remember reaching the moor wall on my way up and seeing Andy Peace hurdle it on his way down.

For anyone from our part of the world, it's a cracking day out. Brilliant setting by the river Wharfe and a proper village sports day, complete with pet show, Punch and Judy, egg-throwing contest, the works. Highly recommended. http://www.burnsallsports.co.uk/
