Golf probably, but why the others, especially the Rugby?
The judges have to see that they are following the rules for a specific routine though, otherwise, what's the point? Also the competitors should know the rules, so it isn't as if they are being subjected to anything they don't understand.
This isn't quite what you are talking about, but the thing I remember hearing about syncronised swimming is that, they often look like they are standing on the bottom of the pool at times, but they are doing anything but. The amount of strength and ability required to make it look like they are just nocholantly dancing without much effort, sometimes with their bodies quite high out of the water is quite something seemingly.
Go to a swimming pool and try to get as high as possible out of the water at the deep end and hold that possition for long enough without looking like you are making an effort (without holding on to anything I mean).
For that alone, keep!
Exactly!
It depends on what it is though, if it is routine say, the judges are there so see who does it the best to the set criteria, I doubt it is just a bunch of people all going
'Ooohh, that looks nice!'
'Ohhh, I like their costume, and that make up, ooohhhhh!!'
That said, I have wondered how they decide the numbered cards sometimes. I guess personal choice must come into it in some small, albeit professional way, maybe it is just how they interpret the rules, but I imagine they will all be singing from the same hymnsheet,
and competitors almost always know when they haven't done as well as they could have anyway, so it is not like it is just a random score or anything. At the level they are competing at, the competitors will 'know'.
They know the rules and are not being subjected to something they shouldn't already know intimately, inside out and back to front, so what's the problem?
Also, if you have enough judges then minor things cancel themselves out anyway (unless they are all a bunch of ignorant twats of course).
Get rid of the 100 Meters running too then.... That Usain Bolt ruined it by not running as fast as he could have!!
That would include some cycling events though and we can't be having that you know!!
As for the judged events bit, see above, but they all should know the rules.
Interesting, but how practical would it really be??
I remember talking to a seemingly intelligent guy who told me
'That he didn't like Rugby because he couldn't understand it'
Sorry, but what the f*** is there not to understand about it??

I have brain damage and even I can work it out!
Seriously though, I can see it encouraging kids and other idiots to go out and climb things, marking a rise in accidents and deaths.....
