Sports that shouldn't be in the Olympics

It's a bit more complicated than that...
There's something rather odd about the objection to sports that involve 'judging' or 'interpretation'... something a bit stale, male and lacking in empathy and openness.
Not at all. It's a recognition that where you have judges you have politics and corruption. Where you simply have citius, altius, fortius you have objective decision-making.

For what it's worth, one of my fantasy IOC bunfights could easily be the artistic games - gymnastics, synchro swimming, ballroom dancing and so on.

One of the rules I'd like to impose is also that female competitors and male competitors should compete in exactly the same events. No more tumbling with ribbons for the women, unless the men also get to do it.

I think most people in the know would soon cotton on, not least the athletes if there was anything damaging.

Hairy legs in the syncronised swimming?

Easier to put what should be IN the summer Olympics; running, swimming, boxing, cycling, chucking stuff, jumping over high things, jumping into sand, hop-skip and jumping into sand, riding bikes, chucking opponents around dressed in white pyjamas...that's about it. NO horses, jumping OFF things into water, pratting around on a mat/with mates in a swimming pool while wearing clothes pegs on the nose, gawf, tennis, guns, hockey, poncing about in boats. I should be the king of the Olympics, me.
Have to disagree about hockey, other than that seems fair

I think most people would be happy to loose the subjective judged events.

Anything that involves winning a medal for a dance routine no more belong in the Olympics than other types of dance such as Ballet or Ballroom.
If dance is allowed, how about most profitable Broker in various disciplines, Foreign Exchange trades, Stock broking, guilt swaps, junk bonds etc. arguably far more relevant, requiring far more skill, a modern war game if you will.

The Olympics were all about being the fastest, strongest, most powerful, the most accurate, best leader etc.
So perhaps computer hacking could be in a future games ?

Most?? Have you figures??

And it is hardly all that objective as both the athletes AND the judges are working within a framework called the rules with parameters for each invividual event, jump or routine. I imagine that anything damaging would be found out pretty quickly, especially with, what, how many millions watching?

Yes yes, I have said that umpteen times already!

Correction: "Most people on this thread ...."
However I suspect it would apply to the masses in general.
Perhaps each country should be allowed to vote for say 3 sports they want included, which then might bring in odd items like Kibbadi and perhaps get rid of the dance events eventually
.

I doubt the average person on the street could care less.

Why does the forum think this? I mean I doubt it would be particularly easy to influence an event in any way without people noticing! So what's the big worry?

And replace it with an 'Olympicvision Song Contest?' :giggle::hyper:

These 'dancers' are gymnasts and as such do more than just dance.
