Not a chance, played the wrong version of his sport, in the wrong part of the country, never mind all the astounding charity runs he's done for Rob Burrow & Doddie Weir's MND charity, & even If he'd captained Great Britain/England R.L side to several sound thrashings of the Aussies & Kiwi's as well for good measure, he wouldn't get a look in

It's a shame as before Sky took over with the super league the BBC used to show a game on a Saturday afternoon.

What about Josh Kerr, the bloke that beat Ingebrigtsen to become world 1500m champion, why wasn't he included?

They try not to include more than one person from the same sport. KJT is there, and if Kerr was in the list too, the votes from those who appreciate athletics would be split between the two.

A few years ago, when the list was much longer, there were 3 (IIRC) golfers in the list. Obviously none of them won, and I don't think any of them even got in the top 3. Since then, the list has been shorter, and had only one from any sport.

Hence Mary Earps, but not Jude Bellingham (he's got plenty of time to appear again).

You’re probably correct about diluting the vote but in 2012 they had 12 nominees. 3 were cyclists and Wiggins won.
But that was one hell of a sporting year. Mo Farrah was 4th after winning 2 golds!
Jessica Ennis was 2nd and Murray 3rd after winning the US open and olympics.
Cavendish wasnt even in the 12 despite winning the Champs Elise in a rainbow jersey.
Loads of other Gold medalists didn’t get a look in.

Apparently it’s a non certified course due to the higher than allowed negative gradient.
Still a huge achievement for a 1500m runner.
It would be like running a 10 sec 100m whilst wind assisted.

Course is a bit irrelevant in the wider context (and in any event it has some testing climbs notwithstanding the negative elevation).

The bigger point is that Josh Kerr ran the same event last year two minutes slower.

Looks like he's been working on his strength which I suppose is what he thinks he needs against Ingebrigtsen heading into Olympic year.

Bit of a shame though that he seems to be looking for a way out of running at what is effectively his home indoor worlds.

Bigger fish to fry. Is JI going to be there? Nope.

Fair enough, although I don't think it's entirely clear yet if JI will be there. And why the mealy mouthed excuses: why doesn't he just come out and say there are "bigger fish to fry".
