Spreadsheet / Outlook conundrum

HELP.
I want to create a plant register that includes dates for testing / re-certifying. I want Outlook to display a calendar that shows me when testing is due, and to issue a reminder a few days before.

Can I somehow link a date in a spreadsheet cell to outlook to automatically create an appointment / scheduled task? It seems to be the sort of thing a computer should be able to do, but I'm stuffed if I can find a way to do it.

Can any kind, clever folk out there help?

Did find this, but it looked a bit comlicated complicarted dificult hard.
