Try them and find out - it's a very personal choice. In principle, there's no particular reason why they should improve your sprint, acceleration or speed in any way.

I don't know about sprinting, but I found holding an effort at 300watts for some interval training on the trainer ''easier'' than with round rings.
 
What the absolute hell are Q Rings?

Basically an oval chain ring.

Thee is a lot of discussion, but basically the concept is that the legs have strong and weak points in the pedal rotation, and the oval varies the input making the whole pedal cycle more efficient.

Shimano marketed it as "Biopace" for a short period and Chris Bell (Highpath) used to make "Egg rings"

In fact Chris Bell's Page on Egg Rings explains them well

Blimy! thats a bit extreme, I was wondering what they were until someone mentioned Biopace.
