It's quite simple.

Squirrel is one squirrel, if you have more, it's squirrels - no apostrophe.

Or put another way, rats with bushy tails.
Edited..
thankyou @Pale Rider , these spell check things ..squirrel squirrel's and squirrels appears as i type..and the highlighted one is squirell's.. if i use the laptop the spell check is very good but this tablet is more confusing.

Well done - I didn't realise you could edit thread titles after the thread was started.

The use of the apostrophe could fill a book, let alone a thread.

But if you start with the notion you don't need one, you will not go as far wrong as if you slap them in all over the place.

The same applies to punctuation in general - less is more.

This will lead you to write shorter sentences, which are easier to understand than long sentences separated by lots of commas, colons, semicolons and the like.

Brilliant............absolutely brilliant. I WANT ONE
I just emailed the link to my Father-In-Law who we furnished with a Super Soaker gun for his birthday. He has been having fun playing SAS and making gunfiring noises when discouraging the pests with it but I suspect there might be an upgrade when we next visit.
Mrs ID has struggled with the conflict of laughing so much she cried but worrying about the welfare of the unfortunate 'cute little furry animals'.
