Hi dear,

I recently bought a Focus IZALCO MAX DISC 9.7 SRAM RIVAL ETAP AXS 12 speed .

I have one technical question abaut chenging the front derailleur from small to big ring.

I notice thet the bike front derailleur CAN'T go up to a large chainring when the rear derailleur speed is over 8 in manual or automatic mode.

When the rear derailleur is from the largest chainring (1) to the 8th chainring down, the front chainring can be changed from small to large.

But when the rear derailleur is from 9 to 12 the chainring cannot be changed in front - small to large.

There is movement in the front derailleur but it does not change the chain. No unusual noise or weaving. It looks like a program from the software. Both dellers have been updated with the latest version of the software.

I do not understand Is this normal for the Sram Rival or is it some kind of software Issue?

For now, I can't find an answer to the question on the net or with specialists.

I don't think there is any defect because you said that you have inspected and built the bike. I guess there is something I don't know.

Can you give me a hand?

Regards,
Nick

Why did you choose the SRAM RIVAL ETAP AXS 12 speed?

I'm confused. The chainrings are on the front. At the back it's a cassette with sprockets on.

Is the question why can't you change to the big chainring when you're in the bigger sprockets at the back?

If you put the bike in the big ring- you can get all of the big sprockets at the back can't you ?

Find a forum not stuck in the dim and distant past . All you'll get here is " Why did you buy that" "No one needs etc"

It defo needs a reset / remap of the software. It sounds like its not moving the FD far enough out, so you need to electronically tweak your upper limit screw. Find a friendly local bike mechanic who can do it and talk you thru what he did for next time.

@FishFright I asked that because this OP seems a copy and paste from another communication. So I hoped they would answer with something typed into CycleChat rather than just a paste (as edited by a moderator).
Can you add any value?

If it’s a recent purchase, I’d take it back and get the retailer to sort any issues
