Vino has just gone off. we'll see how quick the roads are now. The rain looks a lot lighter now

Thats a tad unfair Slowdown, Rasmussen did ride the Giro. He may have grabbed the polkadot with a break, BUT the other riders all had the chance to follow him, its not like they weren't allowed to follow him. And the polkadot has a history of being won by a rider taking a chance on one stage.

Agree he rode the Giro, but just for training (or sponsor obligations). I just liked it when riders would try to win more than one event (or one stage of one event) during a season - Roche's triple of 20 years ago springs to minds.
