I shall give that a listen when my critical faculties aren't clouded by the consumption of a bottle of wine.

Happens alot in music, my cousin is big in america and worked with robbie williams for charity , he actually wrote the top of the charts song "candy" and robbie williams released it on his own apparently written by him and gary barlow, my cousin took him to court but his record label told him they would cancel him if he took the case any further ... Not much that can be done really when a large artist does it to a small basically unknown band/writer, especially a song as big as stairway to heaven

Sorry i meant it in general terms not with the band in question, its quite common for people to ask big artists for advice ect on their material only to have it totally ripped off, just the nature of business i suppose :/
Jimmy Page has admitted several times to nicking it note for note from Randy, including having it as one of his chosen tracks in "Roots of Led Zep".
You'd have to be a tone-deaf half-wit not to be able to hear this, so they've asked @threebikesmcginty and his best mate Tony Hadley to adjudicate.
I don't think Randy would have cared a jot.
this is the kind of guy he was.

It's a very slight rip off well within acceptable artistic licence - unlike this one

It was released 2 years prior to Stairway to Heaven, and was played on tour in the USA before Stand Up itself was even released. Tulls subsequent third album, Benefit, was recorded in the same studios as Led Zep IV, at the same time. Unless Ian Anderson had a time machine - which he might have done, he's a clever guy - he couldn't have copied Stairway.

JT/IA are my favourite band. And guess which band supported them on tour in the early 70s...?

The Eagles, who then promptly ripped off We Used to Know to create Hotel California, right down to the placement of the 2 guitar solos. Funny that.
