maybe not such a good idea if you're in the works van with dave the builder

Yeah, but my travelling companion in the battered van is a pit-bull with shredded ears and a very mean demeanour. They tend to engage reverse fairly sharpish.

The road I live on is fairly steep, and joins a main road at a very sharp angle. The upshot of this is that cars turning right from the main road cannot see others coming up my street.

The usual outcome is that the car on the minor road has to either wait or reverseback 10 or so feet... it's almost impossible to reverse back uphill into the main road without major danger.

Occasionaly you will encounter someone (usually fat, smoking and driving a 4x4) who will refuse to reverse back down the hill. Both the missus and me have actually got out of the car, and gone into the house telling the other driver to come and get us when they decide to stop being a cock.

Had that happen to me when I used to live in Wellingborough. On a narrow residential street with cars parked on each side and the other car refused to reverse despite it being a shorter distance for him. He finally moved when I got out and pointed out the boat I had on tow (my reverse towing skills were not up to the job at the time with that many cars on each side, I'd have taken forever). The boat was low enough that he couldn't see the trailer.

Road rage driver jailed after ramming oncoming car

John Deex Last updated: 23/02/2010 00:00:00

A DRIVER of a 4x4 who tried to ram another motorist out of the way has been jailed.

Shaun Endersby, 34, saw red when he met another car head on in Verulam Way, Cambridge and there was nowhere to turn.

The plasterer, who was driving a 2.5 litre Ford 4x4, pushed Roydon Jones’ much smaller Seat Ibiza 1.4 back along the road.

Mr Jones’ car was written off after the incident, which left it with considerable frontal damage, and the front number plate from Endersby’s truck was found at the scene of the incident.

Their vehicles came together in the road which was lined with parked cars on both sides which meant there was no room to give way.

Endersby, of Water Lane, Oakington, was convicted of dangerous driving after a trial last month. He was cleared of racially aggravated harassment arising from the same incident which happened in April last year.

He denied both charges.

Endersby was jailed for eight months for dangerous driving and was given a further eight months on top from a previous suspended sentence.

He was also banned from driving for two years and was ordered to retake his driving test before he could get back on the road once the ban was over.

best version of this i saw was an old snooty woman and a bus driver.

it was 8:30am and parked cars meant they couldn't pass each other and ended up pretty much face to face. i was walking past when after a few mins the bus driver leans out of his window, shouts that he doesn't finish until half three and pulls out a copy of the sun and starts reading it.
