I've just emailed a question.

I've asked how big the gas giants are without their atmospheres.

We are always told how big they are on the outside of their atmospheres but very rarely told how big they are 'undressed' so to speak.

I found it interesting ... especially the photographs that amateurs had managed to take... you always assume those sort of photos come from professionals.

Why did they have Dara as the host though? I seem to remember he has some academic qualifications but can't recall what in.
Enjoyed the show and it's a subject I am keen to learn more about.

Physics or something similar, I think. I'm sure he's been knowledgeable on QI.

He's pretty qualified. Plus people will go: "ahh that Dara, he's a funny bloke. I think I'll watch this and see him take the p*** out of some boffins!" Little did they realise "that bloke from D Ream" would be playing silly b**gers too.

EDIT: Oh and I sent 2 questions (because I'm greedy). One was if there was a possibility a radio/communication signal could be masked or encrypted to sound like a natural event, the other was asking if enough is being dont to explore other planets given how we're treating this one....

The Sky at Night uses quite a few amateur astronomers' photos nowadays I believe. Some amateurs have equipment running to many thousands of pounds in value and with photo technology having become more accessible to everyone nowadays, they can get some amazing results.

Yeah, well, I dunno - I think I'll have to reserve judgement until all three programmes have aired.

But it's hard to understand the point of JR apart from to dumb-down the programme - and of course Brian Cox is the media's darling physicist at the moment.
