I get rid of most of them on New Years Day. I know the tradition is to keep them until the 6th, but once you are back to work and Christmas is 350-something days away there doesn't seem much point.

The 12th night is the eve of the 5th January, Dec 25th being the 1st night. I should know, it's my burfday. (subtle hints abound !!) so our decorations always used to disappear on the 11th night (eve), the 4th. :8:

Oh yes I suppose historically people regarded the end of the day as when the sun went down, rather than focusing on the start of the day as midnight. I was just counting forwards 12 days after 25th December.

Anyway, happy birthday for then. :8:

Ours were down on Boxing Day afternoon. Half an hour later the first strip of wall paper was going up. It would have been earlier but I had to make three bird boxes in the morning :8:

Christmas! What bloody Christmas?
