My son had his pride and joy stolen today from Fishergate, Preston.
It's a black Boardman MX Sport with white front forks and a gel seat. The police have opened and closed the case and say that cctv isn't monitored.
Any advice or sightings appreciated, thanks.

Any pictures , modifications or marks that make it stand out from the crowd?
Any info that will make it easily identifiable will help if anyone is offered the bike or if it turns up on fleabay or scumtree

Thanks Steve, unfortunately we don't even have the serial number which is rediculous on my part.

It has several extras such as front mudguard, cateye light brackets, phone carrier bracket and carbon water bottle holder, but nothing incredibly destinctive unfortunately.

I can identify the scratches but not sure if that will help.

another day, another 650 bikes reported stolen - at least your son will learn from this and therefore not be a victim again. Most people who have never had a bike stolen are very relaxed about security and have no lock knowledge (i.e. all cable locks are crap even the ones that cost £100)
my tip is to lock bikes very securely even in a house, garage or shed and never leave a 'valuable' bike locked in public

get one of these:

Totally agree, thankfully it was a £150 buy, but the point you make is totally valid. The bikes live in the house but we have relied ( foolishly) on £10 locks which is stoopid.
