Stolen helmets...would you buy one

I've managed to get on it a few times on a few tracks where I am and felt odd cause I wasn't wearing one, there will come a time (I'm quite sure, then an operation might be the only answer) I won't be able to

Depends on your moral integrity rather than your opinion of helmets. This has bugger all to do with helmet debate and more to do with your standing on handling stolen goods. Personally, No. But there are clearly enough people who do.
