Politics is a whole lot more of an emotive topic than most of cycling - Campag-Shimano and a few other topics excepted. There are plenty of other fora where people can discuss politics or world economics or the benefits and problems of capitalism so I'm not sure why they need to be discussed here, although I am as guilty as most in that respect.

Thats a gimmee, they don t because they might come across someone who actually knows what he/ she is talking about.

I don't think the subject matters. Recently things seem much more emotive, with some willful selective quoting and interpretation. Like I say, I wouldn't want to stop this, we all lose it occassionally and feel the better for it, I was just commenting on what I percieved to be the recent levels. Witty, pithy, ironic posts are always welcome, no matter what the subject.

One person likes warm weather, one likes cold."You say eether and I say eyether, You say neether and I say nyther; Eether, eyether, neether, nyther, Let's call the whole thing off!"

I think you're right. And I think it's good when someone you have respect for raises such an issue. These waves do creep up on us and it's useful to take stock.

Thanks Crackle. Point taken. Consider me admonished.

Personally, I think that there are some members who can be very good at diffusing with comedy, and maybe those of us who have the capacity to be more robust could learn something from them. Smeggers is a good example.

Definetly no admonishment intended. I had no one in mind and your tenacious but calm pursuit of people was not even on my list.

You see, conflict breeds conflict. It must be years since anyone used the word "tosspot" on the forum, and now, thanks to you Crackle, it has appeared twice in one day.

Really, I mean it, just stop. It really has reached the level where it's spoiling the place. Every other thread people are at each others throats. In particular those of you who post in general cycling, chill, relax, pause. Think, 'am I actually going to change anything if I argue ceaselessly with someone else'. If you need to, post it as a debating topic in CAD, they like a robust discussion in there. Or just make your point and leave it at that.

It's like fight club on here sometimes. I mean we all like a juicy thread, we all like to get stuck in occasionally but recently.......wow!

Pause folks. Don't get drawn in, think of a good witty acerbic comeback instead and if you can't, well, say nowt. We seem to be suffering a sense of humour failure at the moment.

What do you think?

Venture over to the dark side Cracks, you'll read what i think there.
