Yes it does work.

What it doesn't stop though is phone calls from companies with whom you have registered in interest in their wares/services i.e. online submission of personal details for insurance/financial services queries without ticking the opt out box allows the companies to contact you.

Cold call dried up very quickly for my household.

We found that it seemed to work well initially but we have had quite a few calls recently. I've reported to TPS when I've thought about it but the organisation doesn't really have any 'teeth' with which to enforce the system.

Same here, but it's some of the international numbers that still come through - like "Kevin", clearly from India, selling Jo Bloggs double glazing.

TPS works well, though I do get the recorded ones from the US still telling me I've won a competition.

On the occasion I do get a call I now have the stock answer "I'm registered with the Telephone Preference Service, so no reputable company would consider calling me. Yours must not be a reputable company".

Registered a couple of years ago and it works really well. Cold calls have dropped from almost every day to maybe one a month, and if I tell them I'm on TPS they normally apologise profusely and hang up.

TPS generally works well for me. I do still get the odd call, often from abroad. I have Caller Display and ruthlessly ignore unknown or withheld numbers. If somebody pesters me too much, I pick up the phone, wait for them to start their sales-pitch and then blast them with a buzzer that I keep near the phone for that purpose - they give up after I do that to them a few times!
