I am interested in buy clothing which I can cycle in and not have to rush in the the nearest phone box/cubical and change to avoid offending the opposite gender on my arrival.

Seeing as Bspoke clothing is going rather cheap I brought a jacket from them and very nice it is too. The sizing was a bit strange but they very promptly changed the first one which was too small.

So maybe I thought I would buy a pair of trousers from them. The company in question said they were Short, now these days that can mean anything so I emailed them asking them to explain. I got the following reply:

Hi.

The short label is in relation to the length of the trouser been of short length compared to a normal fitting.

Regards

Subject: Query: Bspoke Holland Casual Trousers (Short) CAB07

Hi,

What do you mean by Short? Is this an inside leg measurement? If so how will they fit on my 29" leg?

Thanks

Short = not full length. i.e. just above/below knee. How does inside leg measurement relate to the length of the shorts?

That is an odd reply.

Touche - just looked them up and they aren't short shorts, and they come in different leg lengths:

Be nice if indeed they stated the actual leg lengths. Some photos on a model would be useful, too.

Email them back asking for the specifics.

Thanks Jezston for that link. I went there originally and got shunted over to startfitness.com. When I clicked on the size chart it didn't appear, the link back to the Bspoke site was broken.

Being of short, rotund stature they should fit me. I do wonder if this guy used to be one of Labour unemployed spin doctors. He has managed to use 20 words to say absolutely nothing!

Problem being that Short, Regular or Long on trouser labels is in realtion to the waist size. So a 29 - 30 inch maybe short on a 32 waist but long on a 28.

It appear that they have all sold out of my size at < £20 however I did find someone on Fleebay for £42, which when compared to the other major cycle clothing manufactures seems still to be good value.

Does anyone know if Bspoke are going out of business or just dumping their old stock? Its a pity because there seem to be very few cycle trousers that come in different leg lengths. They seemed to tick all the boxes.

Here for rides.
I bought some of their putney shorts and a zip knitted jacket thing early last year. The shorts reach to about 1 cm above my knee and are longer at the front than the back. quite nicely made and the waist is adjustable and they hide your lunch box most effectively. the wear well too, I've been offed in them and the are fine. their fake leather (fabric backed pvc or somesuch) gloves are not hard wearing but are very cheap.

???

The information is on the website - perhaps his reply was that of someone irritated you didn't look:

I think it's more that the trousers are supposed to come up short, so saying what inside leg they are suitable for is still very vague, and OP wants to know exactly what the length is and where they'll come down to on his legs.

The combination of being a over-weight, middle age male in Lycra isn't the most pleasing thing to some women hence the offending comment.

The said trousers have now arrived and they fit without any need for adjustment. These will be good for short to medium distance. Bit expensive but worth it. Does anyone know of other similar makes of clothing that is bike friendly yet looks smart causal?

Ah well, all's well that ends well.

Just looking at bspoke's site, they've got a damned good sale on. Unfortunately, they've either sold out of everything OR you can't order it, because there are no 'buy it' buttons!
