One night in the 1970s my dad was bringing my mum home to Birmingham from a night out in Coventry when she swore she saw blue elephants in a field by the A45. Caused a bit of a tiff as my dad obviously put it down to one too many Babychams, but she wasn't having it. A few days later the local rag ran a story about a famous circus troop over-wintering their animals at a farm near the A45. The elephants were painted with a blue substance to protect against the cold weather. Blue elephants near Birmingham Airport. For real.

What is it with Coventry and elephants...?!

I am not one to believe in aliens, UFO's and so on. But..... one night about 25 years ago, I was out in the garden after dark and happened to look up into the night sky. There was a bright object shining fairly low down in the sky, which was initially stationary, but then sped across the sky and disappeared from sight after just 2 or 3 seconds. Far too quickly to be an aircraft and with no noise at all. I have no clue what it was.

I am not one to believe in aliens, UFO's and so on. But..... one night about 25 years ago, I was out in the garden after dark and happened to look up into the night sky. I just had a pal round and he had some very strange theories about similar huge 'drone' sightings in the USA last year. He thinks that they are either alien, or top-secret military drones with advanced anti-gravity propulsion!

I think I've said this before elsewhere, but a few years back, I was walking along a local cycletrack (not on the bike, naughty me, I know) when I saw someone up ahead, also on foot. They seemed older and I was bearing down on them quickly, but I had only seemed them from behind at this point.

We were approaching an underpass under a main road. There are gates immediately before and after the underpass, and immediately after that the path goes onto farm land (the path runs across the middle of it). The path also takes a slight deviation under the road at this point, so whoever is in front will change direction briefly before disappearing from sight.

Anyway, this person in front of me opened the first gate and went to walk around to the underpass.
It was at this point that they turned round and must have seen me, but they were still far enough away that I could not make out their facial features properly. There was something very odd about their appearance - They had what looked like white/silver hair, but they had very dark features on their face, completely at odds with their hair. They were also wearing what looked like big black rimmed glasses. They seemed pleased and happy at something, but I was just out of distance to see them properly and they promptly turned round and out of sight under the bridge anyway.

So, I get to the first gate and just as I open it, I hear them opening the gate at the other side, meaning they will be on the farmland now. I know I'll catch them very soon and I can get a proper look at them (I am curious now).

I walk under the road and open the next gate, expecting to see them... But... Nothing... Not a soul in sight anywhere!!

It is not as if they could easily have run away as the land is very open and even Usian Bolt would have had trouble hiding in time!

I took a good look around, in the bushes, everything, but there was nobody there.

They had disappeared!!

To this day, I have no idea who they were, where they went or quite what it was that was wrong about their face anyway! 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

Actually, I have witnessed several people seemingly disappear into thin air over the years. 🤔
