New to a particular area of Halifax in the late 1980s, I was sent to a job at a house just round the corner from the station. I walked up the path, knocked on the door, and absolutely jumped out of my skin when a piebald horse stuck its head out of the lounge bay window and snorted down my neck.

It would have been the old nag that lived there.

I once met my English teacher in the middle of nowhere (well, ok, Forsinard, AKA, the middle of nowhere).
I also once walked into a clothes shop in Bury St Edmunds (not the strange bit although you might be forgiven for thinking it was), and bumped into an old music teacher.

When I was a member of a certain Rowing Club in Glasgow, there was a guy who was friendly enough. I never thought much of it until I met his wife

.... She was my old Geography teacher!!

I am awaiting what old teacher I will meet next....

Turn left up Grove Ave from the old Ovenden station, and it's the first house on your right.
The Grove was also the place where I went to a reported disturbance. The door was open so my colleague who knew the address, walked in to find the occupant lying unconscious on the sofa wearing just a pair of outstandingly grubby knickers. We were wagged at by a yellow German shepherd which had once been white/albino but was dyed yellow with urine. The Christmas decorations looked a bit secondhand, but that was no surprise as it was September. The occupant is currently serving life for murder.

Edit: just googled her name and discovered she died after refusing medical treatment in 2008.

Delivered something to a customer in a small village in west Wales a couple of years ago and it turned out she was a next door neighbour from east London when I was growing up in the 1960s

Couple of weird coincidences...

I was in a supermarket and was walking along the rear of the checkouts to find the least busy and met up with an old work colleague of 10 years previous we started chatting and then realised we had stopped right where a third ex-colleague was unloading his shopping.... only 4 of us worked there at the time and 3 of us met up at random years later....

and after the job interview for my current job.... my Mrs asked me if it went ok I said yes but he had 1 more candidate to see but I stood a chance as long it wasn't ????? he was interviewing (a different ex-colleague who only lived 2 minutes away from the store and had equal experience.....) I had not seen said person in over 5 years and had no reason to assume he was job hunting.... but it was..... however my boss ended up needing 2 staff and took us both on!

Last autumn my wife and I booked a city break in Edinburgh. We bumped into a work colleague of mine who was staying in a hotel around the corner from us. The following morning in restaurant there was another work colleague of mine and his family and a colleague who had worked in my school and my wife's school with her family. What were the chances of that happening?
