Had to link my Strava this morning to my Garmin Connect app - are live segments on the other devices finally here? Anyone tried it yet?

Yes, it is here! Need to sync a ride before it will activate though.

Nope. Threads about it in the garmin forums. If you are following a route live segments will not show up.

I was going to upgrade my Garmin purposely for live segments but most of my riding is following a route. I'll hold off until they change this.

Tested out Live Segments yesterday. Really like this feature and worth the cost of Premium if you want to actively challenge your PB's, or a mates.

It kept me working hard yesterday, over a 5.3 mile section. Was pleased to see that I managed to shave 16 seconds off my mates time, and secure 3rd out of 103 on Strava. He is a very accomplished cyclist and does Iron Man, Time Trials, etc.

He went out later in the day and shaved a further 75 seconds off my time then. Lol.

All good fun. Hurts when it's windy though, as you watch seconds tick away very fast when you have a head wind.

I was eagerly awaiting it, and they're ok when they work. I do find it keeps telling me about some segments I'm not going to be doing, I dismiss them, and then they pop up again a minute later

No good for short segments (<45s) but good for longer ones, I guess.

I found it an absolute ball-ache to get them on. As well as spending several hours trying to get the software upgrade to run (eventually emptying the trash with the Garmin attached seemed to format enough free space to get it to upgrade), I had thought the segments would upload automatically, but no. The link to send them isn't even on the Strava segment widget on the home page of garmin connect, but you have to go to the menu->segments->send to device, which didn't seem to be documented anywhere. (This might have changed now that I look again - that link has now changed, maybe they're just doing it automatically).

I star the required segments in Strava. Then log in to Garmin Connect and see the segments in a list on the left, which shows the number left to sync. Then connect Garmin to Mac and it sync's away nicely. Quite straight forward with Garmin Express installed.

I notice on the Strava My Segments section that I can set a target for each one. I read that this sync's across to the Garmin also.

Kind of find it cool to target the times of those I follow though, which it does by default.

Decided to upgrade Garmin. If you use strava and care about segments, it is a must have feature.

Smashed so many PR's including tough ones that I haven't been able to beat for months.

I have only been using it for hills but it makes a huge difference.
