Me (after stopping someone for using a mobile whilst driving): "I intend to deal with this offence by way of an endorsable Fixed Penalty Notice. That will be 3 points and £60.

Him: "I've already got 9 points officer!"
Me: "Oh what are they for?"
Him "3 for speeding 6 for using a mobile"
Me: "So you've been done twice already for using a mobile whilst driving?"
Him: "Yes"

I'm not really up pn points, does that mean he's reached the limit now and will get banned, or next time he's caught?

Anyway, nice one...

Do you ever have to fight the urge to just stand and point and laugh at people?

It's just insane. I mean, I have just looked on Halfords, and they have a car cradle and bluetooth headset for £10, which the website says is completely legal. So this muppet has spent £180 and nearly lost his driving license for something he could have avoided by investing £10 and 10 minutes of his time to fit.

There is absolutely no excuse for being caught 3 times with a mobile. If you think of the chances of getting caught using a mobile whilst driving (judging from the number of drivers I see daily flouting this law, I would say this is near 0), you can only assume that the guy is using the mobile on a very regular basis.

He's lost it now.

You see far too many drivers of expensive cars as well not using handsfree systems...couldn't stretch the extra few hundred quid...??????

Well done! How can I contact your boss to ask him to give you a raise?

I do think this rather neatly accentuates why the point system doesn't really work. For some people the remote chance of getting 3 points out of twelve is a rather acceptable price to pay for the convenience of using the phone whilst driving.

Have a virtual e-pint on me VoaB. Not any sort of bribe you understand, just a donation to the police benevolent fund.

It's so endemic around my gaff that if I gave the hand shandy signal to every driver that passed me on their mobile I'd have RSI. It must be like shooting fish in a barrel when you're after them.

That's it though if he's been caught 3 times now, imagine how many times he uses it and gets away with it,total knob in my book.
Thing is he'll probably still do it when he gets his license back:sad:
