how close did they get to you, that's the real point I suggest, granted it's not nice to be passed on the inside but surely it depends on how much inside there was?

No. Tufnell Park Road eastbound is a single lane then develops into two lanes only at the junction with Holloway Road, one goes left towards Archway, the other right towards Nags Head. There's an island there with a pedestrian refuge and he zipped up on the near side. I was in primary in the right turn lane but slowing to a secondary to allow a car to come alongside while waiting at the lights. They all have to turn right there so there's no problem with sharing the space.

There's only one right hand turn lane there and I thought the other rider although competent was stupid and inconsiderate.

Aaaah...I didn't reply, thinking that if I told everyone that I rode a SS (and still couldn't do a trackstand) I'd be laughed off the forum!

I thought you might have meant fixed...

I haven't really had the balls to ride fixed.
I'd like to sometime but I like being able to stay "one pedal up" in case of something in the way of one side of the bike, if that makes sense.

I rarely unclip in London, and can often do a whole 15k trip without touching the road once. Standing up in a trackstand gives you such an advantage when the lights go green - both feet clipped in and your body in a position for delivering maximum power.

If I am feeling lazy / am after a slower ride I tend to sit further back in the queue and accelerate more slowly from a normal sitting stop.

That cyclist sounds like a jackass catwoman, someone whose brain is not trained to deal with the power his body can produce.

Sorry Jacomus, I don't mean people like you - if you can trackstand, stopping shouldn't be difficult for you. Catwoman said he was circling, so it sounds like he can't trackstand. So he sounds like those people who edge forward in cars because they don't have decent clutch control.

BTW, I can't trackstand, I admire those who can, as long as they are doing it well, and not creeping over the line...

To cool to put their foot down. I came accross one of these today, only problem he was on a slicked up mtb, so even on my heavy hybrid he was just getting in the way. This continued at all the lights and because he was too cool to put his foot down he would drift by me at the asl forward to such a place where he couldn't see the lights so when they did go green he was left stranded until I came along.
There's a lot of road works just now so nearly everybody has to divert by the a short section of the NCN which passes up a shared use path by the side of an old building. Its quite busy with peds too. As I approach a blind bend at the corner there's another cyclist in front of me I slow down to his pace, not the bloke on the mtb, he's too cool to slow down; undertakes me and overtakes the other cyclist. Immediately to the right of the other cyclist is a ped, the mtb bloke just continues to squeeze through the gap giving both quite a fright.
