Expanding on my idea, maybe a hot air gun on one side and an ice pack on the other would cause enough deformation to free it.

We're saved! The Americans have offered to help!

Ok, as usual they're late to the party, but they do look dashing in those uniforms and they have good supplies of ladies nylons and cigarettes.

And when its all done they'll make a film in which they rewrite the whole affair and explain how Dwayne Johnson won the war.

In the film, no doubt will the. Americans clear the canal, they will also claim to have designed it and built it ;)

They are all bolted together and need special cranes to do it quickly. The process relies on everything being perfectly lined up in parallel.

Yes, there may be a slight ballasting problem, too. A ship stuck sideways is bad enough, a ship, lying on it's side, and stuck sideways would be upping the stakes, just a trifle. ;)

Perhaps smearing the wnds with butter would help?

Its been reported that the vessel has been shifted slightly. Whether slightly means millimeters or metres is not elaborated upon. Furthermore, the canal authorises are now conceding that human error may have played a part. No sheet Sherlock.
