Suggest a beach please.

2nd all the stuff about Anglesey and Newborough. It's possible to cycle through the forest, pitch up on the beach, body board, walk to the lighthouse, picnic etc... I know, we've just spent a week doing it.

+1. 1.5 to 3 hours max from you? Newtown on the way to Seahouses has one of the whitest sand beaches you will ever see, huge dunes and great rock pools.
