Last time I had a few hours to pass in an airport I helped the cleaners by doing a bit of hoovering and emptying the ashtrays in Bangkok airport. Then I had a lie down, and was woken by the cleaners bringing me a coffee and something to eat before my flight was called. That was a long time ago mind.

I missed a connection and got marooned for 24 hours in Addis Ababa a couple of months ago. Ethiopian Airways put me in the Addis Hilton, which was old but nice. I enjoyed it but didn't sleep a wink all night thanks to the altitude.

How many floors did the hotel have then ?
