At the junction of commercial st and whitechapel road (east London). The lights were green for the left turn and red for the straight on. I pull up behind a tipper truck blocking the ASL when this nutter on a blue bike overtakes me and squeezes between the right of the truck and the pedestrian railings. It is a tiny gap and as the lights changed he's pretty much stuck. Luckily the driver has seen him and so he manages to escape, but it really could have been very nasty. The guy seemed completely oblivious as to the danger he'd just put himself in

It's really hard to understand what goes through the minds of some cyclists when they are making these life-or-death decisions! Pity you don't have a video camera; it would have made a good one for Gaz's Silly Cyclists series.

Indeed, but then I don't wear a helmet ;-)

It goes with cyclists who RLJ into the path of traffic, and who move straight across the road with no signal when turning right. I see both far too often.

Then there's riding without lights - not so much of a problem at this time of year - and riding on the wrong side of the road.

Some people are stupid, and some of those people ride bikes. Sadly we all have to live with it because they're not going to vanish any time soon!

I see this on a far too regular basis on my commute through SE London and it really makes me mad to think that people really do think it's an ok thing to do.
I shouted at one guy not to do this because it's how cyclists die, his response was that he can look after himself thanks. I think not.

Sad to say, I am surprised more cyclist's aren't being killed - too many deaths from HGV's in London this year, and you really do have to wonder whether driver or cyclist at fault some times.

I saw a woman go up the left side of a bus in Brighton yesterday. Said bus had a warning 'Cyclists do not go up the inside of the bus' affixed to its left side at eye level. Some people shouldn't be on the road (she did subsequently abort her undertaking mission as the bus pulled in)....

Most people's response to being attacked is to defend themself. Thing is you made him think about it, so he'll have that in mind next time and he might just not do it.

Ah, well, you probably don't have snipers on your route!

She probably said: "Oh yes they do!".
