Suitable commuting machines

My flat bar Btwin hack got crushed before Xmas by a myopic colleague and a 32 tonne lorry. Until that is sorted, I've been using my Cube 29er mtb. I must confess, it's quite a relaxing ride to work, and a willing worker. So the question is, will I even bother replacing my commuter?
