Suitable for Carbon Tubular Rim?

Brand new Carbon Rims. Cannot find rubbing alcohol or acetone anywhere (for pre-gluing surface prep). These contain alcohol and are in convenient wipes, only issue is that i have no idea what else is in the ingredients. Any thoughts on suitability?

Should be fine. Nail varnish remover is also suitable, although probably the most important part of prep for a carbon rim is to key the gluing surface with a light emery paper.

They contain Lanolin which is a pretty good release agent (it stops stuff sticking)

Thank you for replying but i don't follow, unless your are being sarcastic? I would have thought a release agent would be counter productive in a gluing situation?

I thought my post was clear, anything that contains lanolin (a form of grease obtained from Sheep wool) is not suitable for degreasing, the residue left will stop anything from adhering.

It was clear, my apologies. Right, i'll be returning them then... Why is it so sodding hard to find rubbing alcohol?!

I think it will be fine, given the likely amount of lanolin in the wipes (ie not very much). A lot of people swear by White Spirit as a means of removing tub glue on rims, although as a petroleum derivative, it obviously is oil based, so not ideal. Tubs will still stick though...

I found some in Maplin for anyone else looking. Seems people also use it for cleaning electronics.

Yeah that's the stuff Maplin stock. I need to glue my tub this weekend so Internet purchase was not an option. My own fault for leaving it till that last minute. Cheers for the link!
