Hi as a last minute thing I have to go out tomorrow and rather than faff carrying clothes what does everyone reckon on a 3 mile ride in a suit ?
Well not so much the suit but shoes when I have SPD's (1 side flat) ??

I can take my time sweatwise and it's downhill there luckily.

I've got the same problem with my new job. 2.6 miles. Too far to walk (I like to lie in!) but a faff to cycle in a suit.

Downhill on the way in for me too (well 16m of descending according to Tracklogs!)

I'll have to get some laccy bands for my trouser legs though - Not sure about my new shoes either having invested in some nice italian leather ones !

COuld you wear a wicking t shirt and fold your work shirt into a placcy bag. Wait a few mins at the end then slip on nice clean non-sweatified work shirt. A flannel to dry down any damp areas would also help....

Are you a politician/mayor? Cycling in your suit will give you a nice shiny bum if you like that sort of thing ;) I know what you mean though it is a faff, it seems to take me about 10 minutes to get changed before/after work which is ridiculous, and clothes can be surprisingly heavy, I commute on a touring bike though with a rear basket so I don't need a rucksack on my back which is horrible because it makes your back sweat. When it starts getting colder I'll probably cycle in my work trousers instead of shorts and just change my top, but then again I don't wear a suit. Suit you Sir.

I used to do about 4 miles a day to work in a suit when living the The Hague without a problem. But then again it was a dutch bike with full chain guard, mud guards and huge seat and I never rode fast enough to work up a sweat.

Well it's the suit jacket and shoes which take up a lot of room in a bag. Done it before.
I may wear shorts and T shirt under trousers and suit jacket ala Tom Cruise stylee.

Cheers Fossy. I'm doing interim work just outside of Cheadle. Not ideal, but a decent day rate.

When I went for the 2nd interview I noticed a sign in that said "This car park operates a blocking in policy - please inform your colleagues of early departures"

I guess cycling 3 miles will be better then putting up with that!

One must simply order an extra pair of trousers when one is measure for one's suit by one's tailor
