Just an idea at the moment, no set date yet but I'm thinking a Sunday in July/August. A route of around 60 miles, starting and finishing at Harpenden train station with a cafe stop about halfway. I plotted a route up quickly, thrown a few hills in ( the cake's worth it!)but the route can be easily changed. Anyone fancy it?

Hi Jay, that's my part of the world - I'd be up for that depending on start time and the logistics of me getting to Harpenden at that time.
I can even offer cakes chez moi, (c.40m) except it would be a detour from your route of about 4-5m, with a nasty little climb (Eskdale Avenue) out of Chesham.
Still, the offer's open!

How about Sunday July 24th. The Cafe stop is in Ashridge, and is outdoor seating so ideal for keeping an eye on the bikes and they have a good selection of cake.

Charlie, another cake stop is always welcome! In fact there is a cafe at the visitors centre at Dunstable Downs just over 12 miles into the ride if more than 1 stop is needed.

Topcat, as slow as the slowest rider sounds about right.

There are 2 trains that get into Harpenden at 09.44 and 09.48 if anyone from London wants to come along, so how about a 10.00a.m start?

I rode most of the ride this morning. It really does have a bit of everything including a few hills with some fantastic views over Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire. The roads are mainly country lanes, although a few miles are on 'B' roads but nothing too busy. There are some lovely villages to cycle through and we also skim the edge of a couple of towns.

I'll put myself down as a yes for this. Anyone else on for cycling up from HPC? Me and Luke did it last time and it's not too bad a ride.
