Richard Wilson's 20/50 is going to the Saatchi gallery near Sloane Square.

This is one of those works of art that can change your life. It certainly changed the way I look at things. What it isn't is a trompe l'oeil. It's a serious look at colour, weight, stillness and light made by a man (one of the leading lights in the extraordinary Bow Gamelan) who is relentlessly unserious. Look, look and look again.

The photograph is misleading in one sense. I can only imagine that the artist turned up dressed in his usual 'informal' fashion and Saatch's publicists screamed 'get him a jacket!'

Worth a look if you are anywhere nearby. Entrance is free.

I don't beliiieeevvve it! Sorry I'll get my coat. -

Quite interesting work actually - worth a visit if your in the area I dare say.

Changed my opinion on this type of art after a Bill Viola exhibition I happened upon in Amsterdam in 1998. Looks different in it's correct environment - not in pictures etc.

They need a slap from HSE for not storing an oil product in a suitably double skin bunded area.
ha-ha. I've seen someone collapse in pain at a Bow Gamelan performance. Whether the damage to his ear-drums was permanent or not, I've no idea.

Some of you will have seen Richard's garden shed....

Forgive me if, in my ignorace, I am missing something here.

What I seem to be seeing is someone exhibiting quite a lot of old engine oil in a tank...

what it supposed to represent?
what useful nuggets of information about my psyche am I meant to gleen from it if I were to go and see?

I supposed I am a typical heathen. I just don't see the point.
