Sunday morning aggression

It was a lovely ride in on Sunday, apart from this incident. Pulling away from the lights I notice a car behind try to squeeze through in my lane. He can't and then pulls around me. As he passes he is shouting and waving his hands at me.

I signal for him to pull over to find out what his problem is.

Yes I know it isn't the best idea to ask a car to pull over, but I am who I am.

I am far more polite nowadays with no swearing though!

From your footage can't see that he places his car especially close to you. His car is more in the lane to your right than in your lane. I would have just let this one pass. I have had far closer shaves. Still once he has stopped and opened his window and mouth it is clear to see he is an aggressive nob. On his way to hospital to see his son ........... right. Was his son knocked off his bike by a dangerous driver in a Golf per chance?

The pass itself was fine. What you can't see on the video (despite the wide angle lens) is that before he passes he tries to squeeze by withing the lane. I look back and wobble a bit, which discourages that attempt, then he waits until the car in the outside lane has moved passed and then passes.

The camera also doesn't pick up the aggression he displayed as he passed. Of course that is clear to see when he stops.

Do you not have rear ward / offside facing camera MagnaT like Gaz? He seems to have by far the best set up for recording the antics of motons with front and rear cams. Would your cam be better mounted directly on top of your helmet rather than the side?

It's a bit of hassle, and something else I would need to keep charged.

If no-one buys my camera (see below!) then I suppose I could set it up.

So, he is putting your life in danger as he has to rush to the hospital, but 30 seconds later he has the time to stop for a minute or so to have an argument with you?

Doesn't compute does it?

I would certainly recommend it if you can stretch to it by keeping your other cam.

Lets hope his son does not need your specialist services...that could be an uncomfortable meeting.

I once had a bit of a row with a guy at a tube station, he then walked out, across the road and into the building that I was going to, to meet a client.

I had never met the cleint...fortunatley it was not him!! but I did sweat it a little!!

Best to just let it go and smile, I do worry that one day one of these fruitcakes is going to get out of their car and and have go at you.

I always stop with my foot at the 'start cycling' position.

It could happen, but, as with many things, the perceived risk is far greater than the actual threat. The whole premise of the aggression is the fact that they are safe within their box. Very few are willing to cross the threshold....

Oh I have had one run down the road after me shouting "You f*****g come here now" I nearly fell of my bike laughing which seemed to add to his stress level

My crime a sarcastic "thanks" and a glare after he decided that he did not have to give way to me as I was only on a bike despite the fact that it was my right of way

What? You selling a camera??;)

Another angry little idiot in a cage who is such a rush, yet can stop to give you grief. He'll probably be in Hospital soon anyway with a Heart Attack, judging by his temperament!
