Nice one. That was where I was born and brought up. Certainly a few hills climbing out of the village.

Waiting to see what changes are coming for C2W for me next month, hopefully upping the limit from £500 and spreading the cost. If I was on a geared bike I think I would have loved it, I`m fit enough to do it on fixed but it was very tough on the old legs, especially the long climb up From Dunning over into Dollar I think it was? There is nasty short sharp walk up hill more or less, which I forced my self up on the 78" gear I was riding. It was a B@%t£d ^_^ , hair pin bends, are you familiar with it?

I did a 106 mile ride last weekend, and the climb from Dunning towards Milnathort up past Path of Condie came about 50 miles in ... bit of a beast that climb, but still enjoyed it. I believe it's known as "the dragon" ?? If so, it's aptly named.

you must have gone the opposite way to me, think either way around that route is bloody hard. I think on a geared bike it would of been no bother, was challenging on the 48 x16

OMG, doing that climb or similar on a fixie in 48/16 ... you must have been shouting "shut up legs" a few times like ...
I was in my granny gear once it got to the steep part ... 30/25 (I have a triple on my road bike) ... and still found it tough going, out the saddle gurning like Tommy Voeckler.

It is indeed known as "Dragon Hill" and is never easy. I've only done it once this year and it was probably the hardest i've ever felt it on the legs(too few miles/hills this year alas...). The only thing i enjoyed about it was the view.

I think he came down Dragon Hill not up it. He'd have been walking! He did well to get up the Path of Condie hairpins on 48/16. That route in reverse on fixed would be madness... especially if you took the Stronachie road from PoC.

I've been up the Dunning to Yetts O' Muckhart climb a couple of times on a fixed 48/18 and it's pretty tough because it's such a long climb (3 1/2 miles). Now i've learned some sense i use gears in the Ochils these days!

That darn Dunning Glendevon hill is dangerous.

It put paid to my cycling for a good long while after walking up that hill.
My left knee was locked and swollen at the end of it.
Suffice to say, I have never walked up any hill since. Thank god for granny gears.

Great wee route. I haven't been over that way on my bike for years. Maybe next year....

Are the roads fairly quiet?

The Dunning Roads are very quiet you can go for miles usually without seeing a car and the roads to Dunning (at least from Dunfermline) aren't bad either. I go the A823 (Crieff Road) by Knockhill to Yetts o Muckhart and although its an A road its quieter than a lot of B roads.

i take it the dragon hill is the toughest climbout of dunning?

think i will try and do it this wekend if the weather is good, but looking at it on the maps and that it looks like it coul be a killer

I`ve done the dunning to yeatts of muckart road along the B934, I`ve also done the tulloch road climb through the path of condie i just think dragon hill will be next on my hit list..

Yeah it peaks in steepness in a few places, whereas the glen although long is more consistent and not as steep. The posted route (zoom in for mile markers) is going down the dragon and up the glen.
