mtb spd sh 51 so 4 degrees , had an mri done and i have been told the coating on the back of the kneecap has wear but i also get pain on the inner side of the knee having seen doctors, physios and consultants its a mystery. I was told i did have some damage to the meniscus a while ago so im guessing its got a bit worse and i i already had a tear on the other knee snipped. 40 years old manual jobs dont help either as my right thumb had to be fused and left fingers and thumb can ache too.
I cant see me ever being able to retire due to health problems with mrs ck and mini ck 1 so i have to keep going even if some days i need painkillers to get through the day .
Feeling pretty down atm as every time i start to get some fitness again something plays up as the last 4 years i have had to have 3 operations for various things , weight is creeping up as i comfort eat as i cant train and im in a viscous cycle .
fwiw i had pain on the inner side of knees and repeated strains etc., multiple bikefits didn't help, then a sports physio said i needed a lot of extra arch support, instant cure
my probably was excessive pronation, ankles rotate inwards as i walk/pedal, which strains the knees - also explains the pain i had when humping heavy backpacks in my earlier years unless i wore the boots with hard arch supports in them, i just never made the connection with cycling
these days almost everything aches, feet, back, knees, hips, elbows, shoulders, hands, sigh
