It's a bit elementary though........... but then again it is aimed ar DE readers I s'pose.

I know it's better than the usual cycle hating ranters' articles but there seems to be no informative voice from any corner of mainstream journos AFAIK. It is either this rabid response or mickey mouse cycling on holiday at Centre Parcs, great though Thetford Forest and Centre Parcs are.

I miss Seaton's "Two Wheels" pieces in The Guardian. The Sunday Times has a token cycling column and the Evening Standard created Cycle City. The Independent has James Daley, but he can be a bit of a piss weasel.

All in all there is quite a lot of coverage - would like more but I don't think that we are too hard done by.

Cycling makes you feel alive and puts the fire in your belly. All the things she mentions are things that go on everywhere whether driving, cycling or walking.

Cyclists like Positive Cycling Article, but Hate Negative Cycling Article...Shocker!

It's not that its negative that irritates me but that she formed these opinions after a whole single ride for the first time in decades. She obviously had no idea about how to cycle safely herself but blamed everything on everyone else, e.g. car doors opening in her path.

The daily express article on the other hand was written by someone who had recognised his lack of experience and signed up for cycle training before hitting the roads. If he had then decided that it wasn't for him and complained about things etc I wouldn't have minded.

Me too, but his columm has been gone sometime. Zoe Williams who also has a column in the LCC mag took it over for a bit. I quite liked her. But then she faultered and a few others tried writing the column with varying degrees of success. Now the cycling column seems to have disappeared for good although I might have missed it having not looked at the paper for sometime. I don't buy the Guardian btw, just wanted to clarify that. I look at it on line occasionally or in the library saturday mornings.
