You can "map" a car to run on a specific brand of fuel? I've not heard of that, what does it involve and how does it work?

Fuel choice is very important and strongly influences potential gains, for the best opportunity then Shell V Power or Tesco Momentum (99) must be the norm. 97 ron Super is then next best with 95 ron allowing some gains but mainly forcing a remap for safe engine performance when using the low fuel grade. One fuel to avoid is BP Ultimate which is not suited to the Impreza engine.

Lots of bits changed and 50/50 methanol and water injection..

Perhaps the punctuation police are too busy dealing with people who think the apostrophe denotes a plural.

If you have more than one comma, you have commas.

Have you considered switching to km? They're a lot smaller than even standard miles, so I reckon you could evan get around 50% saving on your big ones

Apologies if this has been asked before but is there a difference in quality between the two. My daughter-in-law works for a Texaco service station and she keeps telling me her fuel is better than Sainsbury or Asda. I use good old diesel by the way.
Any experts on here who can resolve it?

I do believe there is a difference between fuels. My ancient 205 is hardly the last word in sophistication but any time I put Applegreen petrol (from different Applegreen suppliers) it runs like a dog whereas petrol from the Texaco garage doesn't cause these problems and gives better MPG.

Leaving brand of fuel aside, there's no doubt my last three turbo diesels ran better after being given a good belt down the motorway.

Good call. Cornwall to London is likely to be tailwind, London to Cornwall is likely to be headwind. As cyclists we all know the effect of these

I simply buy the cheapest, branded or otherwise - and most often it will be otherwise. I've yet to notice any difference in mpg, and I've kept detailed records since new.
