Persil washing powder
Kellogs cereals
Hellman's mayo
Heinz ketchup
Fairy washing up liquid

Basically all the stuff my Mum used to buy  .. anything else tends to be either Sainsburys/Waitrose own brand, or a random brand.

+
Kellogs baked beans
Birds Eye peas
Colmans English mustard
Frank Coopers Oxford marmalade

When I worked for Dairycrest, we used to make M&S butter, Sainsbury's English and Best butter, Country Life butter, and various others. They all came from the same silo of cream, which was fed to a single churn, which fed three or four different production lines. The only difference in the product was what it was wrapped in. I've never bought anything but the cheapest butter ever since ... there's no difference.

It's a bit more complicated than that...

There are definitely differences in butter - some brands (Country Life for one) put in obscene amounts of salt. Thank you for giving me a list of others to avoid.

Ah, I just buy unsalted, solves that problem. Mind you it can be hard to find if you've only got a corner shop or something.
