hope this does not sound daft....

On any ride that I do (well over say 15 mile ) despite wearing padded shorts and applying vaseline to the more delicate areas of oneself:shy: I aways end up with a sore inside right inner thigh between the vitals and the rear of me...the left side is never as bad.

Is this due to how I sit on the bike or does the seat need moved slightly? etc or can anyone even suggest something more than vaseline to apply

Thanks

Can you feel the saddle catching one side of your thigh on each pedal stroke? I would check that the saddle is parallel to the top tube rather than angled off to one side even only slightly this would cause your problems.

What sort of saddle is it? If it is one of the 'comfort wide ass saddles' it may be rubbing your thighs or if not it could be the saddle is not set back far enough for you causing you to sit on it too far back.

I find vaseline a little thick you might try something more spreadable like sudocrem or a specialist chamois creme.

Are your shorts a good fit I bought some of a different make and they rubbed a bit in the nether regions due to being baggy in that area but my other pair never did

There have been a lot of possible problems high lighted already, all need looking into.
It might be a combination of better shorts, quality and fit, saddle and position on the bike.
I would say its impossible to help more without seeing you on the bike or more info such as style of bike, saddle, position, your build, etc.
The usual answer of ' have you got a good helpful LBS to advise you ? might be the best answer

I had a similar problem and cured it by removing my grundies

Always had a sore inner thigh on one side and worked out it was my boxers constricting on my legs, dont know why the pain was only on one side but not cycling in boxers cured the problem

Sudocrem, chammy cream or none at all. Depends on the shorts but I have a couple that don't need chammy cream at all.

Vaseline is non pourous, i.e. can stop the skin breathing, so I'd use something lighter.
