I agree the buses aren't the main problem. I don't envy bus drivers their job and just because someone is on a bike doesn't bless them with road or common sense.

I had (fingers crossed) another minor victory a couple of weeks ago. The police took to parking in the city-bound lane 1 including the blue cycle lane to pull motorists over during the morning rush hour forcing the cyclists into lane 2 even though there was a side road (Wellington Road?) less than 50 yards away. After they did it three times a fortnight apart causing a tail back beyond the Bow flyover each time I asked them if they could consider using the side road to pull vehicles over in. The inspector said he was a cyclist too and would think about how to minimise the effect on cyclists. They haven't been back so perhaps they are on another arterial route now.

All in all, the good response I've had from the Met Police recently has helped the memory of one of them opening a car door on me and blaming it on me ('you were in my blind spot') fade.

Excellent result, in my experience the Police are never around in Cardiff when I need them though. Oh and they should stop cyclists with no lights on here, would make a fortune!

I saw some police next to SouthBank Uni near Elephant & Castle (I think it's a CS but not sure which), stopping nearly every cyclist. It wasn't dark so not sure if it was a lights thing or just general advice.

Glad to see them out and visible though.

Rode on CS2 the other week and noticed the bus drivers where not the best. Several cyclists where talking to one about his poor overtakes.

the drivers on route 25 are mental. one gets the classic overtake then pull in to a bus stop must get past mentality at least once per commute along CS2.

Like this?

This happens so often on CS2 that I don't even bother reporting it. As I mentioned elsewhere, a bus driver close passed me and squeezed me to the kerb 3 times a few weeks ago, at which point I ended up standing in front of his bus screaming at him. He overtook again very wide, so the sods know how to do it if they try. Normally bus drivers are great, do they pump them up on PCP or something before doing route 25?

Just past Aldgate East Station going Eastbound. I thought this happened a bit further on, but I can see the station on the left at the beginning of the video.

In retrospect I was quite close to the kerb, but I have tried taking a strong secondary, weak secondary, even primary and nothing stops them cutting in front. I normally don't get this issue with buses - for example they are usually fine on the A10. Maybe the blue paint invokes some kind of subconscious rage?

there may be something in the blue paint theory. all the drivers along cable street on CS3 are nutters too.

I've been commuting the full length of CS2 for 8 weeks and I haven't noticed a problem with TFL buses. The ones that have stood out for me are the National Express and Terravision Coaches...
IIRC a Terravision (Terrorvision?) coach killed a cyclist outside Liverpool St station a few months back. I'm sure it was a one off, driver has been disciplined, lessons have been learnt etc etc, but I'm still very cautious around them

Always report it, mate. If you don't make squeeky wheel noises, nobody will do anything about it.

I must be doing it wrong, how do you get tangled with drivers in cable street?

i will take the bait . cos thats a cracking pun.

when they don't look at give way junctions and their front wheeels pass the line before they stop. but apparently this is down to the fact our eyes are lazy, like the drivers for not looking once , twice , bike.
